Description

LIMPIADOS (from the existing castle of the same name at the port of Licata)
It comes from espalier vineyards with a density of 3400 plants per hectare. The vines are more than nine years old. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature (around 24 °). The maturation in steel tanks lasts for at least two years. The aging in the bottle is at least 12 months.
The variety is 100% Nero d'Avola.

After long and careful studies, Baron Nicolò identified the vinification method used in the 5th century. BC by the Cretan rhodium settlers on the coasts of Agrigento.
Although revisited in a modern key, this wine embodies centuries of history and bond with the territory.
On the olfactory examination it surprises for its intensity and aromatic variety ranging from red fruits to carobs and from spices to earthy aromas.
The deep ruby color with garnet reflections anticipates fullness to the taste.
As soon as you taste it, it amazes for its intensity and persistence, barely letting its enormous alcohol content of over 14.5% vol.
The hints of jams, licorice, black pepper and cinnamon make it unmistakable.

The vines located in lean soils, pruned according to ancient traditions, are the most suitable for producing grapes of great value capable of over-ripening on the plant without losing freshness.
Maceration in steel lasts no less than fifteen days, at the end of which the wine is decanted several times to ensure proper oxygenation.

In the plain of Licata, where the Salso river flows (ancient Himera), in the Campi Geloi, of Greek memory, overlooking the African sea, extends the Tenuta dei Baroni La Lumia with a total area of 150 hectares of excellent Sicilian land. The 40 hectares of vineyards have their origins in chalky-sulphurous layers and enjoy a unique microclimate in terms of brightness, right proximity to the sea and temperature range. Elements that determine a territory strongly suited for the cultivation of vines. The company produces exclusively its own grapes that originate from native vines selected from the best of Sicily: Nero d'Avola, Inzolia, Nerello Mascalese and Frappato from which it obtains wines
